free color 2048 game online, no ads
A free color 2048 game you play online: color 2048. On a 4 by 4 grid, you slide every tile at once up, down, left or right. When two tiles of the same shade meet, they merge into the next, darker shade: pale yellow, yellow, amber, then the pinks, the blues, deep black and finally the rainbow, step 11, the equivalent of the 2048 tile. Every tile shows its step number, and you can switch to color only. Free play with your best score, a daily 2048 that is the same for everyone, one undo per game. Ages 8 to 80, no ads, no account.
how to play
- Slide the grid in one of four directions (finger, mouse or arrow keys): every tile slides to the edge, and a new light tile appears.
- Two tiles of the same shade that touch merge into the next, darker shade. The number on the tile tells its step, from 1 to 11.
- Keep some room: the game ends when the grid is full and no merge is possible. Aim for the rainbow, step 11, the 2048 tile.
tips and tricks
- Keep your darkest shade in a corner and leave it there: most games are lost when it leaves its corner.
- Line up a row along one edge, from darkest to lightest: a single swipe can then set off several merges in a chain.
- Play mostly three directions and save the fourth for emergencies: it often pulls your big tile out of the corner.
- Merge small shades early to keep empty cells; a grid with only two free cells forgives nothing.
- In the daily 2048, every move counts: go for double merges, and save your undo for a move that really went wrong.
questions
What is color 2048?
The 2048 game in color, free and playable in your browser. The classic 2048 rules stay the same: you slide a 4 by 4 grid and two matching tiles merge. Here, instead of doubling a number, the tile moves up to the next shade, from pale yellow to deep black and the rainbow.
Can I play if I'm color blind?
Yes. Every tile shows its step number, from 1 to 11, and the number alone is enough to play. Within each hue, shades go from light to dark, and the 11-step ladder stays visible under the grid. The 123 button hides the numbers to play by color only, and brings them back.
How does it relate to classic 2048?
Step 1 is the 2, step 2 is the 4, and so on: step 11, the rainbow, is the 2048 tile. The score counts just like in classic 2048. Once you reach the rainbow, you can keep going to push further.
What is the daily 2048?
Every day, everyone plays the same grid: the same start, the same new tiles after the same moves. The goal is to reach step 8 in as few moves as you can. Your first game counts toward the shared daily streak, and you can share your result without spoilers.
Can I undo a move?
Yes, once per game, for free. Your current game is saved on this device: close the page and pick it up later. Nothing is for sale, nothing is sent.
