free online nonogram, no ads
A nonogram (also called picross, hanjie or griddler) played in your browser. The numbers along the grid tell how many squares sit together in each row and column. You work out which squares to fill, never by guessing, and an original drawing appears in color: fruit, animals, objects and the four Color Guesser plush friends. Small 5 by 5 grids to learn, up to 15 by 15 with colored clues.
how to play
- Read the numbers: "3 1" means three filled squares in a row, then at least one empty square, then one filled square.
- Tap a square to fill it, tap again for a cross (a sure empty square). Drag your finger to fill a whole stretch at once.
- When a line is right, its numbers fade. Fill the whole grid: the drawing gets its colors and joins your album.
tips and tricks
- Start with the big numbers: in a row of 10, a block of 8 always covers the 6 middle squares.
- Add up a line's numbers plus one square per gap: if the total equals the length, the line is fully known.
- Put crosses as soon as a square is surely empty: they block runs and open new deductions.
- Go back and forth between rows and columns: every square found one way helps the other.
- In color grids, two blocks of different colors can touch, two blocks of the same color never do.
questions
What is a nonogram?
A logic puzzle born in Japan in the late 1980s, also known as picross, hanjie or griddler. The numbers of each row and column give the lengths of the blocks of filled squares, in order. By crossing rows and columns you find every square. Picross is a Nintendo trademark: the Color Guesser nonogram is an original game, not affiliated with it.
Can I play if I'm color blind?
Yes. The first grids use a single color. In color grids, the 123 button numbers each color: the number shows in the clues, on the palette and in the squares. You can solve everything without telling colors apart.
Does every grid have a single solution?
Yes. Every drawing was checked by a solver: the grid can be solved entirely with line logic, no guessing, and it has exactly one solution.
What is the daily nonogram?
Every day, everyone gets the same grid, from 10 by 10 to 15 by 15. Your first game counts: share your time without spoiling the drawing and keep your streak. Levels and the album are unlimited.
What if I make a mistake?
By default, mistake help gently marks a wrong square and counts it as a mistake. You can switch to classic mode with no checking at all. Undo is unlimited; you also get 3 square hints and 1 line hint per grid.
