What is Color Guesser?
Color Guesser is a free online color guessing game at playcolorguesser.com: a character, a logo or a flag shows up without its color, and you have 20 seconds to guess the exact shade in one big color square. 507 challenges across 15 themes, a daily challenge, a world leaderboard, 7 languages and no ads. It is written in two words, Color Guesser; not to be confused with colorguesser.com (ColorGuesser) or the ColorGuessr app, two other color games.
How do you guess a character's exact color?
Start with the hue, left to right in the big square, then go from light to dark, top to bottom. Think of the character's most visible color, Pikachu's yellow or Stitch's blue, and lock it in before the 20 seconds run out.
How does the score work?
Your color is compared with the real one using the CIEDE2000 formula, the one that best mimics the human eye. Each round is worth up to 100%, a 10-round game up to 1000 points, and you earn stars at 400, 650 and 850 points.
What is the daily challenge?
Every day, 3 items, the same for everyone, and only one try. Your score out of 300 can be shared with a simple link.
How does the streak work?
Play the challenge every day to grow your streak. 3, 7 and then 30 days in a row each earn you a trophy.
Can I play with friends?
Yes. At the end of a game, tap “challenge a friend”: your friend gets a link, plays the same colors and compares scores with you, no account needed. The daily challenge is also the same for everyone.
What is an account for?
It's optional: you play right away, no account needed. With a Google or email account, your best score joins the world leaderboard and your record is saved online. To join, play a game, then tap “continue with Google”.
Can I play if I'm color-blind?
Yes. The color helper shows each color's name and code, and the no-timer setting gives you all the time you need.
Is it really free?
Yes. Color Guesser is free: no ads, no purchases, no credit card, no download. You can play without an account; an account, also free, is only for the leaderboard and to keep your records. It is a personal, non-commercial project.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, the game is made for your finger. Installed on your home screen, it opens full screen, like an app.
What do you do with my data?
Without an account, everything stays on your device. With an account, your nickname and scores are kept for the leaderboard. A button in your profile erases everything. The details are on the privacy page.
